About the Speaker: Venerable Thubten Kalden is a Brazilian monk who currently shares the Dharma through lectures and meditation in various locations around the world.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and raised in a small town in the mountains near Rio, Venerable Kalden left Brazil and the corporate world of investment when he was 25 to travel. He arrived in Nepal and India, where he began studying the Dharma at Kopan Monastery and the Tibetan language at both Dharamsala and Sera Je Monastery in southern India.
He has worked in several centers around the world, including in Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Nepal, and others. He has conducted many retreats and participated in numerous teachings with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Khandro-la and Ling Rinpoche, as well as with other teachers from different lineages and schools of Tibetan Buddhism.
Venerable Kalden received ordination with Lama Zopa Rinpoche in January 2020 and gelong bhikshu/bhikkhu (full ordination) with His Holiness the Dalai Lama in March 2023. He continues to dedicate his life, unifying his Dharma studies and skills with the desire to help coordinate different FPMT projects around the world, as well as helping people find the precious and authentic Dharma and apply it to their minds so they can attain enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings.Venerable Kalden is a lawyer and certified public accountant and holds an MBA in corporate finance.
